Week 6 Feb. 21

1. While exploring Dr. Alice Christie's website, there were many things that captivated my attention. Being an art lover, her photography was my favorite section of her site. Tulips, farmers market, birds, and wildlife are all images that Dr.Christie photographs. Her photographs are filled with brilliant colors and are focally soft.
There are many ways in which an educator could use Dr.Christie's site for educational purposes. For example, if I were teaching a biology lesson I might incorporate the photographs of tulips to depict the different segments of a flower. This is a way to integrate both art and technology into the classroom.


2. iTunes University is a way in which universities are able to upload audio and video content for their students to watch. They can also watch uploads from univerities such as Yale, Stanford, and Berkeley. Students are then able to download these item for later use.
iTunes University would be a great tool that is excessible to many students like myself and it could be used for enrichement as well. According to blooms taxonomy of higher education, knowledge is the most basic type of learning. Instruments such as iTunes University could provide students with information that could allow them to actually understand the content. When we are later evaluated the information would be retained.

3. Technological tools such as the ipod have found themselves in the hands of teachers and in classrooms around the globe. There are many uses and ways to integrate this technology into the classroom. According to Susie Meserve author of iPods in the Classroom, "In first grade, students are listening to their reading at their own pace then retelling the story using the voice recorder." http://www.schoolcio.com/ShowArticle/1014
When Duke University coducted an experiment distributing 1600 20GB Apple iPods equiped with Belkin Voice Recorder technology to incoming freshmen the findings were astounding. "Audio-intense courses reported that the iPod increased the frequency and depth of student interaction with audio course content through portible and flexible access offered by the iPod"(duke.edu).
